Food to cost ratio at the funeral service reception

 Today I attended a memorial service. 

Once the service was over it was announced that there would be a reception with food and drinks in the banquet hall. 

I followed my sister and her adult children in and we sat down. My niece said that the food was from Panera and asked me if I liked it. I told her it was good. She said her husband didn't like it because they don't give you very much food for the amount you spend. I said, "So the food to cost ratio is out of alignment?" To which replied, yup. 

Made me think about how we want to be able to realize a deal even if it means overeating. I wondered how much food would have to be there on his plate to make him feel like it was an equitable deal. 

Just another subtle social construct that pervades our food consciousness- cost vs quantity. 

By the way, I had a 1/2 sandwich and salad - no chips, extra bread, or saucer sized chocolate chip cookie, and I (most importantly) stayed on budget. My observation for the day.

I just returned from a trip to Las Vegas to continue my education in Photoshop, Adobe's image editing software. I thought, after 12 years of using this program & migrating through 7 or 8 versions that this would be the last conference I would attend for sometime; after all, how much more could one really learn?A lot.After the first day, my good friend and travel companion for the event asked me if I had had an epiphany yet. Really I hadn't. I'd seen things I'd seen before, revisited tips and techniques once known and then forgotten and marveled at the skill of the instructors, but all in all, nothing to write home about. Thoughts on art as influenced by Neil Gaiman

  Art 17 Henderson May 1, 2020 Having not attended a higher school of education was the first hook I felt from Gaiman  when reading his commencement address. That was me too, but I didn’t have such a solid direction in mind as Gaiman did when he decides against University. He talks of a direction that he knew, that  he would be a writer. What I did know about myself was that art/arts were always attractive to me, that creating form and dimension and fooling the eye was something I wanted to do. This came partly from my mother, who first studied graphic arts and then fine arts and eventually became a full time nurse and a  part-time painter. Life has turns in it that come unexpectedly for many and after experiencing a few myself, I didn’t have the drive for school.
